The forestry industry is an economic powerhouse. Most of WA’s timber products come from plantations, and most of the production is in regional WA.
More than 90 per cent of timber industry jobs are in the regions. While the majority are in the South West and Great Southern, the industry is spread as far afield as the Wheatbelt and Perth. The forestry industry contributes $1.4 billion to the WA economy every year.
