WA’s timber industry is a key driver of the State’s economy and jobs. The industry creates about 6000 jobs, and produces $1.4 billion of timber products every year.

The Timber Industry generates nearly 4,000 jobs in WA alone in primary and secondary processing, and another two and a half thousand jobs in flow on and end product industries – all in all, 6,000 jobs.

The forestry industry is an economic powerhouse. Most of WA’s timber products come from plantations, and most of the production is in regional WA.

More than 90 per cent of timber industry jobs are in the regions. While the majority are in the South West and Great Southern, the industry is spread as far afield as the Wheatbelt and Perth. The forestry industry contributes $1.4 billion to the WA economy every year.
