​How long have you worked in the timber industry?

I have worked in the Timber industry since leaving school 24 years ago.

Tell us about your job – what is your role?

Currently I am Plantation Supervisor with Waugh’s Forestry managing the logistics, planning and day to day operations of the harvesting teams in Bluegum plantations.   

What other timber jobs have you worked at, if any?

I started my career in the timber industry as apprentice mechanic at Pine Hauliers working on Log Trucks, then moved into harvesting machinery and continued with the company for 13 years.

After leaving Pine Hauliers I moved to Waratah Forestry Attachments as the Product Support for Asia Pacific, working locally and internationally in countries including Indonesia and South Africa.

What is one thing about the timber industry that people don’t know or realise?

I believe people don’t realise there are regulations and guidelines that are in place to ensure the environment, land and water are not majorly impacted.

What would you like to see change or improve for the future of the industry?

Continual education to ensure the future of the Bluegum industry by providing information on the need to re-establish plantations.
