Timber Building Boom

Timber is THE building material of the 21st Century. Many builders are returning to sustainably grown timber. If we used mass timber in place of concrete and steel, we could cut global carbon emissions by up to 31%.

Quick Facts:

Picture
Timber buildings use less energy than steel and concrete buildings, both during construction and ongoing.
Picture
Timber buildings are quicker and more cost effective to construct.

Timber buildings are healthier to live and work in.

Wood Encouragement Policy

Western Australia's Wood Encouragement Policy (WEP) encourages the use of responsibly sourced wood in the construction and fit-out of buildings or other structures, on its own or in combination with other materials.

Responsibly sourced wood is wood that is grown and harvested in a sustainable way, in compliance with Australian and international standards such as the Australian Forest Management Standard or the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.
